Accuweather is posting nonsense about climate again. More alarmism, more claiming con men as "scientists" and ignoring the massive disinterest in real longer term data. Much less admit their favorite claims only have about 20 years of data behind them instead of millions like you'd need to be backing up such claims. Climate science is shameful to the scientific community, deserving the same level of disdain that UFO nuts get from astronomers and aromatherapists get from medical doctors. Its Quackery. And its a religion. It should not be funded using our tax dollars. Think of the children starving that's buying vacations and scotch for these quacks, these fakes. Its funny how these guys aren't charged with libel and slander every time they blame oil companies. Particularly since Chinese Coal is the biggest emitter of CO2 and SO2. But since their god of climate claimed there would be no arctic sea ice in 2013, and was proven wrong by facts, do they shut up? No. Have they no shame?
I'm amused that the article mentions, grudgingly, that ice gets smooshed together and becomes thicker and harder to melt so the overall mass is the same. And that if you notice the dates, the melt was over 5 days, and they admitted it was just the surface centimeter, which then refroze, mostly in the same place and little of the water actually went into the sea. They very carefully didn't mention what the actual temperature increase in the water was, nor did they mention the tidal position, since water expands as it warms, just like everything else, which could locally increase the actual volume of water making water levels higher. No mention either if summertimes have higher tides due to this basic chemical/physical law of thermodynamics. Oops! Dishonesty getting caught again.
There are other aspects of the Cult of Climate which are also hilarious. The threat that sea levels will rise huge amounts. Do the math, and include the heat mass of the ocean. Ooops! There's also isostasy rates, which are slow rebound of land after the heavy ice melts of them. And that most of the ice that's been melting in the rarely studied until recently ice over the last 20 years, and the ozone hole which wasn't even noticed until 1979 and has probably always been there, most of that melting ice has been melting for 19,500 years. But don't tell the Cultists. They go into a Mad Frenzy of "RAAH!!" and come at you with their pot pipes like weapons. Yeah. Don't let them spill their bong-water on you. I did the math. 5 cm. That's about 2 inches. And it will take until 2100 to reach that level.
Part of their problem with sea level rise is that when Warming hit 19,500 years ago, global temps abruptly rose 10'C. That's A LOT. And it rose in about a decade so it was really a big abrupt change. All that land based ice flowed down into the sea, raising sea levels 80 meters. That's about 300 feet. There were MANY flood events thanks to glaciers acting as ice dams in various chokepoints, which then dumped planetary effecting levels of fresh water downstream in just a few days. The Saint Lawrence got some big floods out of the Great Lakes. The Columbia got some big floods out of Lake Missoula, north of the town of Missoula Montana. There was a really huge one out of Germany which flooded the plain that used to be the North Sea, and then breached the strait of Dover into the Atlantic. There was a monster flood from the Meditteranean into the Black Sea, which used to be a much smaller freshwater lake, complete with sturgeon and trout. In each case, the folks downstream pack up what they could carry and walked upstream, pushing their herds of cattle, goats, etc. Walked. Not terribly fast either. Even the elderly could hobble faster than the water rose. So all the doom and gloom? That only really matters if you're dumb enough to live below sea level behind levies you don't pay to maintain. And that's mostly a problem for people who build on river mouths, where the sediment is still compacting so the land level keeps sinking. Its also a problem on Pacific Islands where the volcanoes were reponsible for their surface being above water in the first place. Once the eruptions stop, the magma chamber collapses and the island sinks again. In Geology, one of those sciences that Climate Scientists make sure to avoid ever speaking to, this is Intro level course work. It's "DUH!" Climate con men are all about the scotch, parties, and hookers. That's where your NSF grants are going.
And the funding side of things is the most hilarious. Of course they'll lie to keep the free govt checks coming. Scotch isn't cheap. Neither are hookers, though co-ed interns do much the same function according to my former professors back in College. Its easy to understand why climate groupies lie. They get paid for it. They keep the big con going until the funding ends. When they have to pay for it themselves? Their enthusiasm wanes. When nobody cares because its been a chilly summer and and its snowing across the USA, that whole "warming!" cry sounds a lot like "Wolf! Wolf!".
I have been accused by the ignorant of being a stooge for the oil companies because I provide basic simple proof to deny their outlandish claims. I do not and have never received so much as a free gallon of gas, much less worked for an oil company. I do my blog for free, as a volunteer activity and practice to improve my writing. The lies about Climate, and the refusal to admit most climate change happened before humans even discovered Bronze, much less burned coal? Its an admission of their guilt.
The worst of it is that some of the glacial melt can be tied to soot from Chinese coal burning. Soot which mostly evaporates into CO2 since organic carbon oxidizes spontaneously. People like me to actually know chemistry know this to be true. Another uncomfortable fact is there's an 800 year heat-lag in the oceans. Which means any heating going on now is from something that happened 800 years ago. Which oddly, wasn't coal. Coal burning didn't really happen until the 1800's. There were some pretty big volcano eruptions in the 1200's, however. Ones which caused the Little Ice Age, for instance. And there's growing evidence of a comet exploding over Canada 11,500 years ago and killing off the north american Megafauna, the big monster animals. It also was supposed to have flash melted much of the sheet ice and caused temporary cooling which lasted a thousand years known as the Younger Dryas. Which then lead to a major drying period that kick started agriculture in the Fertile Crescent thanks to drought cutting off most of the easy food supply but offering that funky wheat a chance to save the population in what is now Syria, but then known as Ur. Where we get the word Urban and SubUrban. City and Village. Real scientists take the long view. Fakers pretend its all recent and urgent and give me your money! We have to save the world with your money! Now go live in a mud hut and die in childbirth at 29. Limousine Liberals with bodyguards heavily armed with guns they don't allow anyone else to have, those sorts of hypocrites get elected and re-elected by convincing the public that they are the best people ever and all the peasants should die. All of them. This means you. How do you feel about that?
The conmen behind anthropogenic climate change have nearly run this horse of theirs into the ground. Its snowing in the midwest. Its already snowed several times in the Sierras this fall. The summer wasn't very hot. There's been one Atlantic Hurricane, and it didn't hit land. All their doom and panic were for naught. Its pretty hard to panic people who are starting to wonder if real people should get jobs instead of these wankers. How long before their grands get cut? How long before some examples get made, some houses seized from "climate scientists" for academic fraud and they have to try and find real jobs. I wonder if they can manage to work a real job? Maybe pour coffee? Can they live without good scotch?
